WELCOME
TO HOPE CHURCH ROMANIA

WE ARE GLAD THAT YOU ARE HERE

HOPE CHURCH EXISTS TO IMPACT PEOPLE WITH THE HOPE OF CHRIST FROM DRAGANESTI-OLT TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH.
"Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people." Matthew 9:35

Romania is in need of people willing to give their lives to see this nation reached and transformed by the gospel of Jesus.
This can be done in several ways:

Bring a short-term mission team to Romania to work alongside our ministries.
Become a long-term missionary, and dedicate a good portion of your life to this mission.
Partner with our church financially, spiritually, or prayerfully.

I looked down at the big brown eyes staring up at me with that giant smile sitting under her nose. Her shirt said "lovely" and I couldn't think of a better word to describe her. She broke eye contact and started tugging me towards where clothes were being handed out. I reached for a sweater at the same time as four other people. Sadly, I did not win that fight for the sweater. I was crushed. My heart broke and tears were about ready to stream down my face. She looked at me though with that big smile and continued to wrap her arms around me. I don't know how it happened, but in the same moment my heart was broken and filled with so much love for this child. I smiled up at the Lord because He calls her lovely and because she is His daughter too. And although I may never see her on this earth again, I know I'll see her in Heaven because I stood next to her as she prayed the prayer asking for the Lord to come into her heart.

I saw a man sitting on a park bench in Craivoa. We got into a good conversation and eventually I went on to share my testimony as he listened attentively. Just as I finished Romans 10:9-10, my translator was called over to the other World Racer who needed her. She left me there with the man on the bench. I prayed for him, using the few words of Romanian I knew. "Sanatate," I said, meaning health. I prayed good health over him and for the Holy Spirit to move. I finished the prayer and when I looked into his eyes, I saw tears and a depth I can't explain through words.
Sitting next to him on the bench, we shared nonverbal communication for about 15 minutes. I motioned to him that I loved to dance and listen to music. Shortly after, he began to sing. HE BEGAN TO SING! To me! In the park. My translator and other World Racer came back. I introduced them to the man and we were all smiles.
Through the translator, I said to him, "I have shared with you about Jesus and how important it is to have a true relationship and friendship with Him. Would you like me to pray with you to ask Jesus to have a relationship with you?" He nodded his head yes! We explained that he could repeat the prayer after me, but it had to come from his heart. He responded with a smile, a nod, and touched his heart. As we said our goodbyes, he hugged me and picked me up! We were all smiles, grinning from ear to ear. I screamed with joy and pure happiness inside, I could feel my spirit jumping.

Street evangelism can be a scary task, but it is so rewarding when you see the fruit from it. Currently, a church is being planted in Craiova and I was overjoyed from a 19 year old girl named Alexandria. We were in groups of two and my friend and I saw a girl smoking outside of a small diner. She was so friendly and welcoming to conversation and she quickly invited us inside (since she worked there). Like so many others here in Romania, Alexandria claimed to know Jesus and that she was raised Orthodox. However, after asking her specific questions I was aware that she did not appear to actually have a relationship with Jesus.

By the end of our conversation, Alexandria eagerly received Jesus into her heart and said she was the happiest she had ever been. We invited her to the church plant and exchanged contact information and said our goodbyes. And as we were leaving she said, "I'm glad you came today because it is my last day working here, if you would have came tomorrow I would not have met you." This encouraged me so much to see proof of God moving in such a tangible way, and I knew this had truly been a divine appointment! God is always moving and at work, but Romania and Craiova specifically is ripe for the harvest. Pray that more laborers will come share in this work of the Lord!

Romania has a special place in my heart. Since arriving in Romania God has been romancing me here. He reminded me of Zephaniah 3:17 where it says, "The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Through our time with Hope Church my team and I have been with Dorothy in widow's ministry which is where God has given me a burden for widows which I have never been exposed to before. Also God has given me an even deeper burden for people who are unreached by the Gospel and who society shuns. I will always remember the beautiful memory of Dorothy shining her light for God in the darkness of a widow's home. Light ALWAYS overcomes the darkness. Thank you, Hope Church for not only serving your community well, but (i)gnited squad as well! We love you!

In Romania working with your ministry, I learned more about how the local church should function to meet the needs of the individual church members. I saw people loving each other in incredible ways. A brother or sister’s burden was also their burden. The community was incredible. I am excited to take this vision of a tightly knit local community church home with me.

I enjoyed being able to work with so many different aspects of ministry, from kid’s clubs to office logistics, I got to be part of it all, and make so many relationships with the people here. While working with the ministry I really felt a connection to the work that is being done here, and got to experience first hand the growth that the Father is bringing to this area. My favorite day here was the first Saturday, when I went to Coteana and worked first with the children, and then went to a house church. From children to adults, the people captured my heart, and their hunger and excitement for God was tangible. I have learned so many lessons here, but the one I most hope to take with me is to have joy in all circumstances. That is something I have learned so much from the people here this month, and I will take your laughter with me.
